Is it hard to meet like-minded people? Do they have the same interest, common goals and desires as you? Are you able to build a rapport and friendship with them? Remember there are billions of people out in the world, so it may seem tough sometimes to meet like-minded people. There is going to be at least tens of thousands of people out of this group who will share at least a common interest with you. When you open yourself to different people who share a common interest, you are not limited with just one person who shares all your interests. You need to take the right steps to meet like-minded people. Here are some tips.

  • Who Do You Know
A great way to meet like-minded people is in your immediate circle of friends. You have friends with similar interest as you, and they probably know friends with the same interest as you. If they don’t share your interests, they might know someone who does. Another excellent tool is world of mouth. This may lead you to a new list of liked-minded friends.

  •  Place of Work
If you are in a career you enjoy and a company that you like, a work place(school, if you are studying) is a great place to meet people with like-minded interest. The reason I mention the work place is because companies have a regimented set of recruitment criteria, which includes certain personality traits and hard skills. Employees share core similarities, that is why you and others were recruited. When you are part of a company you are also part of a bigger culture, sharing same knowledge and thinking patterns (to a degree).

  • Clubs and Communities
A quick way to meet like-minded individuals is in existing clubs and communities. People with the same interest in a community acts as a central hub. A cooking club for example will attract people who are interested in cooking for eating healthy or learning to cook like a chef. Online forums and communities on Linked in and Facebook are a great way to start off. Offline communities will include meet-up groups, recreational clubs, interest groups, related classes and membership societies. . It was fun connecting on a deep level on those areas, where the regular person wouldn’t know much about them.

  • Start a blog
It’s probably not a tip most people would use because it isn’t exactly instant. I have found that it does work.  How and what you write, will show others how you are liked. When you run a blog like-minded people will enjoy and appreciate your thoughts and will stay on for more.  You will be in the company of a huge community of like-minded individuals, who are diverse in their own ways at the same time.

  • Networking events/Meet-Ups
What are the kind of people you are interested in? Who are the people you’d like to meet? When you’ve gone to a number of networking events they can sometimes be pointless, turn into empty mingling and name card exchanging. You need to find the networking events that meet your needs. Carefully choose the ones that you go to because different networking events attract different people.
